Welcome to the Ashburton Pistol Club
Discover what makes our club a premier destination for pistol enthusiasts in New Zealand. From our diverse disciplines to our friendly community, we're dedicated to safe, exciting, and rewarding shooting experiences.

Our passion, your journey
At the Ashburton Pistol Club, we offer a range of disciplines to suit your interests. While we're particularly strong in IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) and Cowboy Action Shooting, our club provides opportunities to join and train in various other exciting fields. It's entirely up to you to look into the list above and we will help you understand and choose what to follow and master.

Starting your shooting adventure
Never held a pistol before. No problem! As soon as you visit our club, you'll be assigned a dedicated sponsor. This person will guide you through every step, ensuring you understand and follow our very strict safety rules. When the time is right, they'll help you gain approval from the committee so you can apply for your B Cat firearm licence. once you are at this point, we will help you with what safe you will require and we can help you with the shopping for the firearms you can use of our range etc.

A community built on camaraderie
We take safety and the introduction of new members very seriously, as we are working with firearms. However, once you're approved and become part of our family, you'll discover a genuine and supportive community. Our club boasts a truly friendly vibe, especially among the Cowboy Action shooters! Once the guns are locked away, you'll find yourself surrounded by fun-loving individuals, often dressed as if they've stepped straight out of the Wild West, and it's fair to say they enjoy a good ale or ten.
Exciting events and national shoots
Both our IPSC and Cowboy Action sections run national shoots each year, attracting 150 to 200 shooters, along with many of their partners. At least one of these nights includes a fantastic ball-type function, which can be a real hoot! Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming dates and how to get involved.
